12 years ago today my Dad passed away – in some ways it feels like it was yesterday and in some ways it was 5 lifetimes ago.  My Dad wasn’t perfect but he was the perfect father for me and I miss him every day – I thank him for my grit, straight arrow approach, appreciation of tidiness (even before Marie Kondo) and never being afraid to do the “right” thing – he gave me some good stuff!  He once told me that the only thing I was entitled to was a “hard day’s work” and that’s pretty much how I’ve lived my life.  Of course, he also helped me to develop a spicy “vocabulary” – a good “horse shit” now and then never hurt anyone.  Here’s to the important people who made us who we are and the importance we have in helping our children be who they are – hope I haven’t messed mine up too much.
